Lifelong Health and Wellbeing
Disability and Digital Technology
This
transdisciplinary project is funded by DMU's Revolving Investment
Fund and has assembled a team that crosses all five Faculties of
the university. The aim of the project is to enable earlier user
involvement in the development of creative technologies for people
with disabilities, and to set standards for the design of those
technologies.
The project began in 2010 and has held a series of workshops and discussions, including visits from Dr Mike Kent, Dr Julia Cassim and Dr Mick Donegan. It has also prepared an EPSRC bid relating to sonic orientation devices for the blind, and is working on musical instruments and gaze interactions. It has links with the Alzheimer's Society and severl other charitable bodies.
